Consultation for hair loss
An initial consultation for hair loss with our Consultant Dermatologist includes the following:
- More information about our service can be found in the appointment guide
- Detailed discussion of the problem
- Examination of the area of hair loss
- Trichoscopy using a Dermatoscope
- Advice on any investigations you may require such as blood tests or biopsy
- A discussion of any treatment options
- A prescription if required
- A copy of the clinical noting is sent to you and to your General Practitioner

Investigations may be required to help in the assessment of your hair loss. These include:
- Blood tests (from £95). Blood tests may be done for iron levels, thyroid, vitamins and hormones.
- Hair loss biopsy (£850)

- Steroid injection – steroid injections can help various types of hair loss including alopecia areata
- Oral minoxidil
- Finasteride
- Spironolactone
- Platelet rich plasma injections
- Bespoke prescription foams and lotions
- Immunosuppressant medications
- JAK2 inhibitors
