What is Potent C?
Potent C is a vitamin C serum that contains a host of powerful vitamins and antioxidants to nourish the skin. It was designed by Dr Sajjad Rajpar, consultant dermatologist at Midland Skin, and is made by Belgravia Dermatology London.
It uses vitamin C in its pure form, L-ascorbic acid, together with vitamin B3 (niacinamide), vitamin B5, vitamin E, ferulic acid and peptides. Each ingredient was chosen because it has published scientific evidence behind it.

Why Dr Rajpar developed Potent C
In more than 20 years of practising medicine, Dr Rajpar has seen an explosion in skin care products. As he wrote in a published article on non-surgical rejuvenation of the face, the sheer number of products on the market causes confusion for consumers and physicians alike. Do you need separate day and night products? Different products for the eyes, face, neck and chest? How many serums, and in what order?
It was my mission to create one simple product that was effective and could be used by both men and women who wanted to do the most they could for their skin – while keeping their skin care manageable.
He spent two years researching and combining the ingredients he had been recommending to patients for over 15 years, with vitamin C – an ingredient he believes should be in everyone’s regime – at its core.
How to use Potent C
Potent C is designed to keep skin care simple.
- Use it twice a day, morning and evening, after cleansing.
- Apply one to two pumps to the face, eyelids, neck and chest, depending on the area you are covering.
- Let it absorb, then apply moisturiser, make-up or sunscreen – or nothing at all. In the morning, finish with sunscreen.
- You do not need separate day and night products, or separate products for the eyes, face, neck and chest.
Who is Potent C for?
Potent C suits men and women who want to do the most they can for their skin with a routine that stays manageable. It may be worth considering if you have:
- Fine lines and wrinkles – early or established signs of skin ageing
- Uneven skin tone – patches of pigmentation or a generally uneven complexion
- Signs of sun damage – including sun-related pigmentation and dullness
- Blemish-prone or oily skin – niacinamide helps regulate oiliness and improve the look of blemish-prone skin
- Dull or dehydrated skin – looking for hydration and a brighter complexion
- Too many products – anyone wanting one evidence-led serum for the eyes, face, neck and chest
Where to buy Potent C
Potent C is available to buy at Midland Skin, or online from Belgravia Dermatology London with delivery to UK addresses.
What is in Potent C?
Just take a look at the ingredients and the benefits they bring to the skin.
Vitamin C
The cornerstone of Potent C. Unless there is an exceptionally good reason not to, everyone can benefit from using something with vitamin C on their skin. Applied to the skin, it reaches far higher levels than taking it by mouth, because the body limits how much reaches the skin from a tablet.
Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps protect collagen from breaking down and supports the production of new collagen. It also reduces the amount of melanin (pigment) the skin makes, which helps with uneven skin tone. Studies of topical vitamin C show smoother, less wrinkled skin and lightening of pigmentation, with results building over months of regular use.
Vitamin B3 (niacinamide)
A hard-working multitasker. Niacinamide supports the skin barrier by increasing ceramides (the skin’s ‘good fats’), reduces water loss and helps regulate oil production – so skin feels softer, smoother and less greasy. Clinical studies also show it reduces the appearance of pigmented blemishes and fine lines, helps calm blemish-prone skin, and reduces the yellowing of the complexion that comes with age.
Vitamin B5 (panthenol)
A natural skin hydrator. It improves elasticity and supports the skin’s natural defences, helping it cope with everyday environmental stress.
Vitamin E
A superstar antioxidant. Vitamin E neutralises free radicals that damage skin cells and collagen, helps hydrate the skin, and works together with vitamin C.
Ferulic acid
A plant-derived antioxidant. In a well-known study, adding ferulic acid to a vitamin C and E solution made the vitamins more stable and doubled the protection they gave skin against sun-induced damage. Antioxidants complement sunscreen; they do not replace it.
Peptides
Short chains of amino acids that act as signals to skin cells, encouraging collagen production and helping skin look firmer and smoother. The evidence for topical peptides is less extensive than for vitamin C and niacinamide, but they are a useful supporting ingredient.
What results can I expect from Potent C?
Improvements from vitamin C and niacinamide are gradual. In published studies, changes in fine lines, texture and pigmentation were measured over weeks to months of twice-daily use, and longer-term use may be needed before differences are noticeable. Results vary from person to person, and most of the evidence comes from small studies of individual ingredients rather than of Potent C itself.
Potent C is a cosmetic skin care product, not a medical treatment. If you have acne, rosacea, melasma or another skin condition, a dermatology assessment is the right first step, and your dermatologist can advise whether Potent C fits alongside your treatment.
Buying and using Potent C: FAQs
Where can I buy Potent C?
Potent C is available to buy at Midland Skin, and online from Belgravia Dermatology London with delivery to UK addresses.
Do I need separate day and night products, or different products for different areas?
No. Potent C is designed as a single twice-daily serum for the eyelids, face, neck and chest, used with your usual cleanser, moisturiser and sunscreen.
Can I use Potent C with prescription creams or other active products?
Potent C is designed to work alongside a simple routine. If you use prescription creams or other actives, check with your dermatologist about the best way to combine them.
Why has my Potent C changed colour?
Potent C contains vitamin C in its purest form, L-ascorbic acid, which can gradually change colour over time through minimal oxidation.
What should I do if my skin stings or becomes irritated?
Vitamin C serums can cause mild tingling when first used. If you develop persistent stinging, redness or irritation, stop using the product and seek advice.
