  • Qualified Consultant Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic, Lacrimal & Orbital Surgeon.
  • MBBS (Kasturba Medical College). This means I have completed a medical degree and I am a doctor.
  • FRCOphth. This means I have completed specialist training in Ophthalmology and I can work as a consultant ophthalmologist.
  • GMC specialist register. This means I am a specialist ophthalmologist and registered with the General Medical Council. This is the equivalent of being a ‘board certified’ ophthalmologist.
  • Fellowship trained in Oculoplastic surgery. This means I am an ophthalmologist who specialises in plastic surgery of the eyelids and adjacent facial areas.
  • I see adults with concerns involving their eyelids, orbit (eye socket), lacrimal (tear) system, and adjacent facial areas.

Miss Reena Kumari is a highly skilled Consultant Oculoplastic, Lacrimal, and Orbital Surgeon based at University Hospital Birmingham, where she also serves as the Clinical Service Lead for Ophthalmology.

With extensive subspecialist training in oculoplastic surgery, Miss Kumari brings a wealth of expertise and precision to her practice. Her advanced fellowship training in Leicester, combined with placements at prestigious institutions such as UCLA and Moorfields Eye Hospital, underscores her commitment to providing the highest standards of patient care.

Training

To become a Consultant Oculoplastic Surgeon, Miss Kumari first completed a degree in Medicine. Following this, she completed her Ophthalmology Specialist Training followed by Fellowship training in Oculoplastic Surgery in Leicester.

She has been awarded a CCT in Ophthalmology, which means she is one of only a few hundred doctors in the UK to be on the GMC Specialist register for Ophthalmology and trained in Oculoplastic surgery.
