  • Qualified Consultant Dermatologist
  • MBBCh (University of Wales College of Medicine). This means I have completed a medical degree and I am a doctor.
  • MRCP (Derm UK). This means I have completed specialist training in Dermatology and I can work as a consultant dermatologist.
  • GMC specialist register. This means I am a specialist dermatologist and registered with the General Medical Council. This is the equivalent of being a ‘board certified’ dermatologist.
  • Over 15 years experience as a Consultant Dermatologist

Dr Adzura Azam is a Consultant Dermatologist at Midland Skin. She is on the specialist register for Dermatology and also holds an NHS post as a Consultant Dermatologist.

Dr Azam focuses on the care and treatment of dermatological issues affecting people of all ages, including children and adults. She is an accomplished dermatologist with extensive experience treating adults and children spanning over 20 years.

She is known for her warm and understanding approach, recognising how vital skin health is to overall well-being. Dr Azam takes a holistic approach to dermatology appreciating the impact it can have on quality of life.

Training

To become a Consultant Dermatologist, Dr Azam first completed a degree in Medicine. Following this, she completed her Dermatology Specialist Training in Southampton and the West Midlands. Her journey to become a Consultant Dermatologist took 10  years after completing 5 years at medical school.

She has been awarded a CCT in Dermatology, which means she is one of only a few hundred doctors in the UK to be on the GMC Specialist register for Dermatology. This is the highest standing for a Dermatologist.

Additional information

Dr Azam is heavily involved in training the next generation of healthcare professionals. She supervises medical students, registrars and nurses during their dermatology placements. She is also part of the West Midlands Annual Review of Competency Progression panel, assessing the next generation of Consultant Dermatologists.

Away from the clinic

In her spare time, Dr Azam tends to her allotment, where she cultivates a variety of vegetables. She also enjoys a busy family life with her husband, a Consultant Ophthalmologist, and their two children.
