About us

Midland Skin is the trading name for Midland Skin Ltd (Registered in England No12295594, Registered address 38 Harborne Road Birmingham B15 3HE.

Our Services

‘We’, Midland Skin Ltd, offer private dermatologic care. As such, a recommendation for an intervention or other treatment will not be given if this is contrary to the expert opinion of the consultant. No guarantee of a particular outcome from any consultation or treatment is provided.

Contract

We will provide private medical services, as defined under ‘Our Services’ above, and within the scope of our clinical practice, to ‘You’, the patient.

Liability

Midland Skin Ltd will not be liable in contract, tort or otherwise for any economic loss (including, without limitation, loss of profit), or for any other special, indirect or consequential loss or damage arising out of, or in connection with, its provision of any goods and/or services to you. It is the your responsibility to ensure that you provide us with all relevant medical details at each consultation or treatment. We will not be liable for any damage that occurs as a result of the your failure to disclose such details. You agree to comply with all instructions and/or recommendations given to you by, or on behalf of, Midland Skin Ltd regarding your care.

Cancelling an appointment

We will need to know by 10am on the working day before your appointment if you wish to cancel or change your appointment, and we will provide you with a refund of your deposit or prepayment. Failure to cancel or change your appointment by 10am on the preceding working day will result in a loss of your prepayment or deposit.

There are no exceptions to the cancellation policy and this rule is applied in all instances.

Please note that a cancellation or non-attendance fee also applies if you are an insured patient (see below).

Multiple cancellations

If you cancel more than two consecutive appointments (self funding or insured), any further bookings will be non-cancellable and non-refundable. Pre-payment for these appointments must be made in full and via bank transfer only.

Arriving for your appointment

Please arrive for your appointment at least 10 minutes in advance so that the necessary paperwork can be completed. If you arrive late, the amount of time available with the consultant may be reduced accordingly.

Fees

All consultation, investigation and treatment fees are reviewed regularly and may be altered at any time without prior notice. The price in force on the date we deliver your service will apply, unless we have agreed a written fixed-fee care plan that is still valid.

Referrer / GP

Your consultant will inform your GP and your referrer of your consultation or treatment.

Self-funding patients

You agree to pay for the services that we have provided to you as per the fee schedule on this website. Consultations, investigations and treatments are offered by prepayment only. Injectable treatments require a deposit payment.  Prices for any services will be quoted in advance, following consultation.

For procedures, the fees charged by us are exclusive to any additional charges that may be made by the hospital unless stated otherwise.

If you choose to obtain self-funding services from Midland Skin Ltd then it is not possible to retrospectively seek partial or full reimbursement to us via a private medical insurer or any other third party. You will need to seek reimbursement to yourself for any coverage you may be entitled to. At all times our contract is with you and not a third party. We will provide you with a receipt on request along with your clinic report that you can present to your insurer. A fee is levied if you require additional documentation from us, such as letters.

Overseas patients

We do not offer consultations or prescriptions, or medical advice, to those who are not physically in the UK.

Insured patients

If you are unable to provide us with your full private medical insurance details, or if we are unable to validate your details, you will be asked to attend as a self-funding patient. We will provide you with a receipt on request that you can present to your insurer, in case you are eligible for reimbursement.

Please be advised that insured patients are liable for full payment as the contract to provide services is with the patient and not the insurance company. We will invoice your insurance company directly if you provide us with complete details of your scheme, policy number and pre-authorisation number.

You must therefore inform your insurance company of consultations and surgery which you organise with us and confirm you have adequate cover. If your insurer declines to settle your invoice in part or in full, then any shortfall or lack of cover will be due from you.

If you are unsure, we recommend you contact your insurer for advice before scheduling any services with us. We will adhere to the fee schedules set by the major insurance companies, and details may be obtained directly from the individual’s insurance company. These fees may differ to the fee schedule which we have for self-funding patients.

We ask you to contact us by 10 am on the working day before your appointment if you wish to cancel or reschedule an appointment. If you do not contact us in this time frame or do not attend an appointment, you will be required to pay the costs of the appointment in full – please note that medical insurers will not pay for this.

Initial appointment

You will need to have an appointment every 12 months to remain an existing patient of the practice. If you have not been seen in over one year, you will be booked in as a new patient at the cost of a new appointment.

Sponsored patients

A sponsored patient is required to settle their account as per the arrangements for a self-funding patient. A guarantee of payment, or any other payment arrangement with any third party is not accepted by us.

Late or returned payments  

Interest on overdue invoices is applied at a rate of 8% a year plus the reference rate and is applicable once 14 days have elapsed following consultation or treatment. Midland Skin Ltd reserves the right to charge a £10 administration fee for late or returned payments in addition to reasonable debt recovery costs incurred.

Refunds

We issue a refund only when you cancel in line with our cancellation policy. Any refund will be returned to the same payment method you used for the original transaction.

Fraud and debt collection

 Information may be disclosed to others, including debt collection agencies, with a view to recovering any unpaid debts or other costs. Where we instruct debt collection agencies, you may become liable for any additional costs incurred.
